1.Hi, can you please introduce yourself and what you and the others do inthe band?
Paul: Paul Ponitkoff. Bass Jeff : Jeff Lenormand, and I play guitar.John: John Gotelli, DrumsDave: Hellion, Vocals
2.Can you please describe VP sound to me ? would you call it goregrind or grindcore or something else?
Paul: A soup broth of thrash, grind, metal, hardcore, and a sprinkle oflove.Jeff : I would say it's a mixture of grindcore and power-violence
3.VP have released a couple of albums through the years. why is it that onevery release you are on a different Label ?have you guys had problems with labels?
Jeff : Every label we've had up to this point has folded up and closed theirdoors. Both Howling Bull (in America) and Necropolis went out of businessfor whatever reason.
John: Yeah, it is not a problem between the label and the band but justsome pattern that we have unknowingly walked into. Willowtip and Deepsendare looking strong so, I think we’ll have a home for some time to come.
4.Where did you come up with a name like Vulgar Pigeons?
Paul: Inspired by the author Jack Kerouac. He’s not my favorite Author byany means, just happened to be reading “on the road”, and stumbled upon“vulgar pigeons”.
5.You guys are going to be playing a show at the Los Angeles MurderFest, theset list for the show is impressive, what do you guys think of the otherbands? How is your gig touring schedule go? Do you guys tour a lot or do alot of gigs?
Jeff : We're concentrating mostly on finishing a new album.
John: The MurderFest has shaped up to be an amazing fest, a ton of goodbands and hours of just straight metal. It is going to be a great show. Wetry to hit a show here and there as all of our schedules permit, it is hardto tour when everyone is trying to survive off of their jobs but we do whatwe can do and that is about all anyone can ask
6.What bands have you enjoyed listening to lately? Any good movies you'vealso watched?
Paul: John and I liked Brokeback Mountain. It has brought the band closerto one another.
John: Yes, Brokeback was fantabulos and I just downloaded ‘The Very Best ofLisa Loeb’
Jeff: I just got Sirius radio, and I listen to the "Hard Attack" station alot and I listen to new bands through there. One band I'm really impressedwith is ‘Demon Hunter’. I got their first album and didn't quite like it,but hearing their new song "Not I," I have to say that my opinion changed.‘As I Lay Dying’ is really great too. Then there are some bands here inAmerica that I'm digging such as ‘Frost Like Ashes’, ‘Grave Defier’, and‘The Horsemen of the Apocalypse’.
7.VP has just released Burning Episode, which has taken good reviews onmetal sites, can you tell me a little about that album?
Paul: We had fun writing these songs. We experimented with some duelingsolos, and riff acrobats. We like to incorporate styles that we haven’t doneas a band.
John: The artwork and overall package of the CD is amazing as well. PatThompson did the artwork and it is spectacular. The CD is a clear CD and Iwas so excited when I saw it. You will not be disappointed.
8.Have you guys ever thought of doing music videos?
Jeff: Of course that would be cool, but we're too poor to do a proper one.Dave is working on something with his cousins who also made the independentmovie, " YOUTHANASIA " (available now on Comcast In-demand digital cable) sowe'll see how that comes out.
John: It would be great to have a video just for the fact that there are somany new outputs and avenues opening up to get them played on. You cancheck out more about ‘Youthanasia’ at www.myspace.com/YOUTHANASIATHEMOVIE
9.Thanx a lot for the interview, any last words comments to the grinders inthe Arab world?
